2024 Chevrolet Equinox Price, Reviews, Pictures & More | Kelley Blue Book (2024)

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox is a well-rounded compact SUV with affordable pricing, but it struggles to stand out in its competitive class. Pricing starts at $26,600.

The 2024 Chevy Equinox is a good SUV, but it’s up against a lot of great competition. The current model is now in its seventh model year, and many competitors have made big advancements since then. Some offer standard all-wheel drive, many have better resale values, and the segment, in general, has gotten more high-tech and engaging to drive. Although it’s hard to get excited about the Equinox, it has affordable pricing, just-right sizing, and many standard features for the money.

The Equinox is the third best-selling compact SUV in the U.S., trailing the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.

2024 Chevrolet Equinox Pricing

The 2024 Chevrolet Equinox has a starting sticker price of $27,995, with the range-topping Equinox Premier kicking off at $33,195. But Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Pricing currently suggests paying $1,465 to $1,627 less than MSRP, depending on trim and equipment. These prices are updated weekly.

Driving the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox

The 2024 Chevy Equinox is powered by a 175-hp 4-cylinder engine matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front- or all-wheel drive. It gets the job done, but with a bit more effort and less polish than the segment’s newer entries, of which there are many. Similarly, we’ve found the Equinox comfortable enough on the highway and adequately nimble around town, but it lags many competitors in both regards. The Equinox performs well enough, just not as well as most of the alternatives.

Practical Interior

The interior design of the Chevy Equinox is agreeable, if a bit bland. Although there’s nothing wrong with this cabin, any of its modern rivals offer a more premium design and nicer materials at a similar price point.

One area where the Equinox does excel is rear-seat legroom. We had no problem fitting in the rear seats, and they’re plenty roomy for children. The rear-seat space is on par with segment leaders like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.

Cargo space is another category where the Equinox is just okay. It has 29.9 cubic feet of room behind the rear seats. That’s enough for a typical grocery run, but the Honda CR-V has a whopping 39.3 cubic feet of space.

Just-Right Sized

The exterior design says more about this compact SUV than it probably ever intended. It’s kind of alright — which is the score the Equinox achieves in virtually every category. New paint options this year include Riptide Blue and Lakeshore Blue.

Our Favorite Features and Tech

Wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay
This convenient infotainment tech feature lets you connect your phone to the screen in the car without plugging it in. It comes standard on every Equinox.

Roomy seating
The Chevy Equinox is a practical SUV for small families, thanks in no small part to the roomy seating space in both rows of seats.

Confidence & Convenience Package
This desirable option package is now standard on all but the base LS trim. It includes a power liftgate, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and safety tech features like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Chevy Safety Assist
This standard safety tech suite includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, a following distance indicator, and automatic high beams.

Sporty RS trim
The RS trim doesn’t improve the Equinox’s performance, but it gives it a sportier look inside and out. It has unique front styling, black Chevy badging, 19-inch black wheels, and red interior stitching.

Special Editions
The Midnight Edition, available for the LS trim, and the Redline Edition, optional on the Premier model, add unique appearance packages to the Equinox. The Midnight Edition has a blacked-out aesthetic, while the Redline Edition brings a sporty look while getting the premium features of the top trim.

Engine & Transmission

Equinox power and fuel economy are okay, but a bit on the low side among compact SUVs.

1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine
175 horsepower @ 5,600 rpm
203 lb-ft of torque @ 2,000-4,000 rpm
6-speed automatic transmission
EPA city/highway fuel economy (2023): 26/31 mpg (FWD), 24/30 mpg (AWD)

3-Year/36,000-Mile Warranty

The Chevy Equinox is backed by a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. This coverage is typical for the segment.

KBB Vehicle Review and Rating Methodology

Our Expert Ratings come from hours of both driving and number crunching to make sure that you choose the best car for you. We comprehensively experience and analyze every new SUV, car, truck, or minivan for sale in the U.S. and compare it to its competitors. When all that dust settles, we have our ratings.

We require new ratings every time an all-new vehicle or a new generation of an existing vehicle comes out. Additionally, we reassess those ratings when a new-generation vehicle receives a mid-cycle refresh — basically, sprucing up a car in the middle of its product cycle (typically, around the 2-3 years mark) with a minor facelift, often with updates to features and technology.

Rather than pulling random numbers out of the air or off some meaningless checklist, KBB’s editors rank a vehicle to where it belongs in its class. Before any car earns its KBB rating, it must prove itself to be better (or worse) than the other cars it’s competing against as it tries to get you to spend your money buying or leasing.

Our editors drive and live with a given vehicle. We ask all the right questions about the interior, the exterior, the engine and powertrain, the ride and handling, the features, the comfort, and of course, about the price. Does it serve the purpose for which it was built? (Whether that purpose is commuting efficiently to and from work in the city, keeping your family safe, making you feel like you’ve made it to the top — or that you’re on your way — or making you feel like you’ve finally found just the right partner for your lifestyle.)

We take each vehicle we test through the mundane — parking, lane-changing, backing up, cargo space and loading — as well as the essential — acceleration, braking, handling, interior quiet and comfort, build quality, materials quality, reliability.
