How to get a street permit in NYC? ›

You can apply online by visiting E-Apply and paying a non-refundable processing fee of $25.62 with a credit card or debit card. If you are unable to apply online, please contact the SAPO office.

Things to Know Before You Apply. Special Events permits cost $25 to process, and the fee cannot be waived waived (except when requesting an NYC Parks group volunteer project). We will do our best to give you what you request, but this money is not refundable.

You can submit your application and take your test online (using a PC or tablet), at home, and come to the DMV to complete your application. Before you take your permit test, make sure that you have everything you need to successfully begin the application process.

The application takes 21 to 30 days to process. Different guidelines apply to demonstrations and rallies.

Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation

Most New York State Parks charge a vehicle use fee between $6 and $10 dollars for day use. Parks may also charge additional fees for such amenities as pools and picnic shelter reservations. Historic sites generally charge an admission fee between $1 and $6.

Construction Permit Applications for Renovations

Most kitchen and bathroom renovations require an ALT2 permit application, which must be filed by a PE or RA.

Applicants may be ready to obtain a permit to begin work before they are ready to begin concrete operations. The Department allows applicants to obtain a permit that authorizes work but prohibits concrete operations until concrete requirements are met.

It largely depends on the scope of the work. If you are replacing a small area of damaged shingles or repairing a leak, we do not require you to obtain a building permit. If you are replacing a whole section of roofing material or replacing your roof (re-roofing), a building permit is required.
