What is the residence permit for highly skilled migrants? The residence permit for highly skilled migrants is a streamlined immigration process for highly skilled employees from outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland. It allows individuals with specialised skills or expertise to live and work in the Netherlands.

Skilled workers are chosen as permanent residents based on their education, work experience, knowledge of English and/or French, and other factors.

The Ski​lled stream of the Migration Program is designed to attract migrants who make a significant contribution to the Australian economy, and fill positions where no Australian workers are available.

The basic requirement for the H-1B visa is that the applicant must have a U.S. bachelor's degree or a foreign graduate degree at least equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree. Several years of work experience or a combination of both may also qualify an applicant for an H-1B visa.

Highly Skilled means an employee that requires specialized training in order to operate, manage or participate in the Project. This may include scientists, engineers, managers and specialized trades.

Any highly skilled migrant (HSM) planning to move with their family to the Netherlands must apply for a MVV (entry visa) and/or residence permit for each member. As a highly skilled migrant or a scientific researcher (under Directive (EU) 2016/801), family members are entitled to the same residence status as you.
